I’m receiving further inquiries regarding the current works at the intersection of Woongarra Scenic Drive & Rifle Range Road. Three jobs are being carried out at once including the re-alignment of the intersection, the repair of the WSD pavement/kerb and the installation of sub-surface drainage into Mary Kinross Park.
In response to the inquiries I thought that I’d provide another update together with a copy of the design layout which can be viewed by clicking here.
As most people would now realise, the overall job is far larger than that initially proposed which was to simply rectify the pavement & kerb damage on WSD caused by the 2011 & 2013 floods. Like others, I was frustrated by the length of time involved in rectifying the initial problem but this really has been a work in progress and in the long run it was worth the wait (and more cost-effective) to have all of the issues in this location resolved at the same time.
Once completed, the works will result in a complete upgrade of the intersection giving vehicular priority for the WSD/Rifle Range Road route with a Give Way sign controlling northbound traffic out of Innes Park North. Also, the new drainage should hopefully help mitigate against future pavement damage during periods of heavy rainfall. It’s anticipated that the cost for the entire works will be in the vicinity of $350,000.
Apologies for any inconvenience however (weather permitting), I’m hoping that the job will be completed by the end of the month. In the meantime motorists should exercise caution and be guided by existing signage and of course, directions by traffic controllers.
