WOONGARRA SCENIC DRIVE WORKS TO COMMENCE SOON

The long-awaited repairs to the road surface on Woongarra Scenic Drive between Moodies Road and Rifle Range Road have been approved and the tender awarded. The works were subject to flood recovery funding following the 2010/11 inundations and the former assessment process was an absolute nightmare resulting from endless red-tape. (Fortunately, since the new State government took office, the assessment criteria for the 2013 flood repairs have been completely re-vamped are being handled far more efficiently).

Woongarra Scenic Drive Road Surface - Ready for Repairs

The approved contractor has been asked to commence the work as soon as possible and I envisage that it should begin within the next month or so which will be a blessing as I’m receiving ongoing complaints regarding the issue because many motorists can’t understand why it’s taking so long. The alternative would have been to undertake the works earlier but at full (considerable) cost to ratepayers.

As previously reported, Council is also proposing to make the turn from Woongarra Scenic Drive into Rifle Range Road (and visa versa) the priority route by installing a Give Way sign for northbound traffic exiting the Innes Park North area on WSD and removing the existing Give Way sign in Rifle Range Road at the WSD intersection. Some alignment of the pavement will have to be undertaken and I’ve asked that, if possible, this work be carried out at the same time as the WSD road pavement repairs to maximise efficiencies if possible.
