Council staff have managed to provide a reasonable water pressure to most coastal residences over the peak demand period however consumption is currently running at 80 litres/second and it’s estimated that current supply can’t be guaranteed after midnight.
A major replacement piece of machinery has now arrived in Bundaberg and should be installed and operational within the next 3 – 5 hours. It’s believed that a reasonable pressure supply should again be available by the time most of us get up tomorrow morning. Additional works will be carried out during the morning which should further stabilise the situation.
Due to the disruption, it’s likely that the water will be discoloured and residents should be mindful of this if proposing to drink it or to wash laundry which could become stained.
I won’t provide any further updates until the morning unless something drastic occurs.
