I’m receiving numerous calls from residents and accommodation facilities regarding the cut to coastal water supplies so I thought that I’d give periodic updates to keep people informed even if there aren’t any significant developments.
The last report that I received at about 4.30pm was that the repairs are being attended to with the utmost urgency and going according to schedule. All things being equal, the supply should be improved by early tomorrow morning and I’ll post an advice if this changes.
Staff are trying to ensure that at least some water, albeit at a greatly reduced pressure, is getting through but this can’t be guaranteed or relied upon. At the moment they are managing to do so although in some areas this is only a trickle.
Residents are urged not to store more water than they need for the essentials as someone else may miss out.
For those with swimming pools, you may wish to consider what I’m doing and fill a bucket to replenish the toilet cistern.
Unfortunately, in the short term residents can expect the shortage to continue until early tomorrow morning.
Any inquiries can be sent to me at greg.barnes@bundaberg.qld.gov.au or if they’re urgent on 0488 539 123.
