VOLUNTEERS ASKED FOR A FINAL ASSAULT IN CLEAN-UP ZONES

Volunteers are requested to join for one last assault on North Bundaberg to assist homeowners in two day cleanup blitz this weekend.

Bundaberg Regional Council will be running buses from the Racecourse assembly area on the hour commencing at 7.30am on Saturday and Sunday.

Council is still receiving requests for assistance from many residents struggling with the enormity of the cleanup task ahead of them.

Volunteers are advised to bring their own clean up utensils such as shovels, sturdy gloves and rakes. While Council can supply some of these items quantities are becoming limited.

It is anticipated that two staging areas will be in operation over North Bundaberg with one located at the corner of Thornhill Street and Hinkler Avenue and the other at the corner of Gavin and Queen Streets.. Sausage sizzles food will be supplied as will water and a first aid facility.

All volunteers are reminded to wear appropriate protective clothing and footwear. The final bus returning from north side on each day will be at 4.30pm.

Council has asked that any resident requiring assistance over the weekend particularly in the North Bundaberg Station and Hanbury Streets area, to contact Council’s call centre on 1300 883 699 to register their premises for the cleanup.
