A major breakdown at the Kalkie Water Treatment Plant has resulted in a cut to supply of potable water to many coastal townships. Council has just issued the following Media Release and I’ll post any updates as they come to hand.
Kalkie Water Treatment Plant Breakdown
A major pipe break at the Kalkie Water Treatment Plant today affected distribution to a wide section of coastal communities in the Bundaberg Regional Council area.
Council’s Water & Wastewater portfolio spokesperson Cr. Alan Bush said repairs are expected to take between 10 to 12 hours to complete.
“During this period Council requests that use of reticulated water be confined to essential use only,” said Cr. Bush.
He said that as Council undertook the repair process residents may experience complete loss of supply, discoloured water or extremely low water pressure.
Council authorized radio broadcasts advising of the loss of service.
Affected areas are: Kalkie; Burnett Heads; The Port; The Hummock; Bargara; Innes Park; Coral Cove; Elliott Heads and Riverview.
Cr. Bush said Council extended an apology to affected customers for the loss of service and inconvenience caused.
