Earlier this week I submitted a Notice of Motion to the upcoming Planning Committee Meeting scheduled for next Tuesday 30th June in which I am seeking a refusal of the application to operate a helicopter from a residential property on Woongarra Scenic Drive.
The recently-released official agenda has now been published and shows that Council officers have also listed their own report and recommendation for a refusal and one which is basically the same as the one they submitted to the Committee some six weeks ago. At that meeting, their recommended refusal was reject by a 6:5 vote and the application was left in limbo in the absence of an alternative motion to approve it.
On 9th June I submitted a Notice of Motion which also sought to refuse the application however this was rejected as being “out of order” by the Mayor after he rearranged the order of business on the agenda to have his own Notice of Motion determined first.
This has been one of the most curious applications that I’ve dealt with for many years and like the many people who have discussed it with me, I remain at a loss to understand why it has dragged out to become the subject of such controversy and angst within the community.
Hopefully, it will be resolved one way or another on Tuesday and I for one will be glad to see the back of it.
