TEMPORARY ROAD CONDITION UPDATE

The heavy rainfall in the Bundaberg Region has caused widespread flooding and many roads are still closed because of the effects of this flooding.

As the water recedes, road surfaces will be slippery and hazards will be exposed.

Adjacent property owners will be cleaning their premises which may also introduce hazards to the road network.

Motorists are requested to travel all roads with care and responsibility and to drive to the road conditions.  Motorists should not drive through flooded sections of road.

The following is a listing of state controlled and higher order Council roads which are closed;

  • Booyal Causeway, Causeway Road, Booyal (closed at Burnett River)
  • Bourbong Street East (closed at Kendalls Flats)
  • Bucca Crossing Road (closed at Kolan River)
  • Bundaberg-Gin Gin Road (closed at Splitters Creek)
  • Burnett Bridge, Bundaberg Central (Bundaberg-Gin Gin closed at Burnett River)
  • Cedars Road (closed at Burnett River)
  • Don Tallon Bridge (Isis Highway closed at Burnett River)
  • Dr Mays Crossing Road (closed at Elliott River)
  • Duckpond Road (closed at Gin Gin Creek)
  • Farnsfield Road (closed at Gregory River)
  • George Street, Bundaberg South
  • Gin Gin – Mt Perry Road (closed between the Bruce Highway and Wonbah Road)
  • Goodwood Road (closed at the Gregory River, Leeson-Oliver Bridge)
  • Hinkler Avenue (Isis Highway closed from Don Tallon Bridge to Mt Perry Road)
  • Kalpowar Road (closed at Kolan River)
  • Moore Park Road (closed near Fairydale Road)
  • Quay Street, Bundaberg Central (closed at the Kennedy Bridge/Kendalls Flats)
  • Queen Street, (Bundaberg-Gin Gin Road closed Perry Street to Gavegan Street)
  • Rosedale Road (Bundaberg Miriam Vale Road closed at the Kolan River)
  • Scotland Street, Bundaberg East
  • Steindl Street, Bundaberg East
  • Walla Road, (closed at the Perry River)
  • Walla Street, Bundaberg South
  • Roads around Wallaville and Goodnight Scrub are closed, as are roads in the Wonbah area.

Many urban and rural access roads were affected in the flooding and the condition of these roads still has to be assessed.

Bridge Opened;

St Agnes Bridge on Walla Road (Open with a 5 tonne maximum load limit)

Inspections are continuing where access is available and further updates will be posted as they come to hand.

Motorists should refer to the 131940 website at http://131940.qld.gov.au for the current status of the State Controlled roads in the area.
