An existing streetlight located between the two low walls at the intersection of Bauer Street & The Esplanade at Bargara will be removed next week to make way for the new War Memorial which is proposed to be erected in that location.
1.5m long arms will be fitted to the top of the other existing lights outside Kacy’s and Salt to extend over the pandanus trees to throw more light over the intersection and to maintain a compliant standard of illumination. The extended arms will also remove the need to cut back the trees which are considered iconic to the area.
Work on the memorial’s final design is nearing completion and it’s anticipated that the new structure will be completed in time for this years’ ANZAC Day Dawn Service.
