SMARTPHONE CHARGE BARS PUT POWER IN THE HANDS OF AIRPORT PASSENGERS

Smartphone and tablet users will now have access to recharging facilities at Bundaberg Regional Airport, following the introduction of a brand new device ‘charge bars’.

Economic Development portfolio spokesperson Cr Greg Barnes said Council installed the charge bars to cater to an increase in passenger numbers at the airport.

“With more people flying in and out of the Bundaberg Region for work and pleasure, Council identified the need to install charging points for the high volume of smartphone and tablet users,” Cr Barnes said.

“The charge bars includes a wide range of connection plugs to recharge devices such as iPads, smartphones (including iPhone and Android), lap top computers and almost anything else that’s commonly used these days.”

Cr Barnes said the charge bars had been installed in two locations, one on a counter near the southern end near the cafe area and one location within the departure lounge.

“It means that busy people on the go can charge their devices quickly and effortlessly while they wait to board their next flight,” he said.

“More than 150,000 passengers flew in and out of our region last year and we expect that to increase in coming years. As it does, it’s important that Council continues to roll out features at the airport, such as the charge bar, to ensure we’re meeting the needs of passengers and visitors.”
