Motorists may have seen the Variable Message Boards which have been set up on the Bargara & Port Road approaches to the Turtle Roundabout advising of impending road works. Both of these roads are under the control of the State Government’s Department of Transport & Main Roads (DTMR).
Council works closely with DTMR and since the roundabout was re-constructed in 2009 I’ve sought to have the median strips on all four approaches tidied up as they’ve been an eyesore at the entry point to the coast’s most populated and visited townships. Unfortunately, funding hadn’t been available however I understand the DTMR is now in a position to carry out some limited works and I’m assuming/hoping that this is the job to be started on Monday.
It may be wise to allow an extra few minutes travel time for those commuting between the City and Bargara/Burnett Heads as there’s bound to be some traffic controls in place.
