PROBUS MEETING PRESENTATION

Yesterday morning I had the pleasure to address a meeting of the Bargara & District Mixed Probus Club held at the Bargara Golf Club.

The meeting was attended by some 40+ members and I was encouraged to learn that the club has a current membership in excess of 80 which is great to see when so many community organisations are experiencing challenges from decreasing membership.

Rather than focus on one particular subject, I gave a brief personal background together with an outline of a Councillor’s strategic role. I then invited questions from the floor as I’ve always found that this is the most effective way to provide information on a broad range of issues which are pertinent to the audience. I was also able to spend some time during the morning tea break for some one-on-one discussions which was equally valuable from a feedback point of view.

My thanks to President, Ray Strong for the courtesies that he extended and to those present for their hospitality, the diet-friendly scones, jam & cream and their interest in the topics raised.
