PRIVATE WORKS ABUTTING KELLY’S BEACH MAY CREATE TEMPORARY INCONVENIENCE

A Public Notice (link pasted below) had been issued by the contractor for private works to construct a protective seawall on the boundary of Saltwater & Dune Apartments and Kelly’s Beach.

Located at 32-38 Miller Street, Bargara, the work is now set to commence after the required Permits were issued by the State Government’s Department of National Parks, Sport & Recreation – Marine Parks, the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning and Council (Prescribed Tidal Work).

Whilst there are bound to be some concerns regarding the works, I’m advised that all environmental issues and especially those relating to turtle conservation and future nesting habits have been satisfied at the State level. It’s also comforting to see that the works will be completed prior to the turtle nesting season.

Even though this is not a Council project I thought that I’d share this information so that the wider community were made aware of what was occurring and especially as machinery is likely to be accessing sections of the beach over a period of several weeks.
