Today I wrote to the Prime Minister asking her to authorise the deployment of a Blackhawk helicopter to conduct flypast salutes of ten regional ANZAC Day Commemorative Services.
I understand that the Mayor has also written to the PM in support of my request.
During her visit to Bargara following the Australia Day tornados & subsequent flooding event, I broached the subject with her but understandably she wasn’t in a position to make any commitment.
I’ve since been advised that the Blackhawks may be scheduled for maintenance and training commitments however I’ve asked the PM to recognise the significance to our communities of having these aircraft participate in regional Services and especially due to their vital role during the recent January disasters.
If approved, the Services included in the flypasts would be:
- Bargara
- South Kolan
- Rosedale
- Bundaberg
- Gin Gin
- Childers
- Woodgate
- Eliott Heads
- Moore Park Beach
- Burnett Heads
As I related to the PM, the Blackhawk flypast of these Services would include an aerial salute of those locations which were most severly affected by the series of recent disasterous events.
I’ll post a response when it comes to hand.
