While certainly not by choice, residents right across the Bundaberg Region are living in historic times.
Bundaberg has never witnessed anything of the scale of the floods, in tandem with tornadoes, that ripped through the region in the days since Australia Day.
Bundaberg Regional Council is appealing to district residents who may have captured images of the flood event or the impact of the tornadoes to provide those images to Council Library staff.
Mayor, Cr. Mal Forman said staff had collated images, many contributed by the public, associated with the 2011 flood event.
“This is an historic occurrence and naturally it is the role of our Library staff to catalogue whatever information or images they can obtain to add to our collection of historic Bundaberg images .”
Cr. Forman said the photos or video footage were also important records and a reference for Council’s Planning staff and a useful data base for other agencies across Council.
“Anyone sending information should provide a brief description on where the images were taken and the date.”
“We would like images from right across the region. Our focus is not solely on undaberg,” said Cr. Forman.
Material can be emailed to http://bundaberg.qld.gov.au/library or taken to the Library for staff to download.
