NEW FURNITURE TO BE INSTALLED IN BARGARA FORESHORE MAIN SHELTER

Council’s Parks and Gardens staff will soon be replacing the existing low-set alloy furniture under the main shelter in the foreshore park near the curved timber decking opposite the Bauer Street/Esplanade intersection. The furniture, which includes the the delapidated chess tables and round stools, are outdated and the low height of the stools make it difficult for people to see above the curved timber railing to enjoy the ocean vista.

I’ve asked that consideration be given to the installation of a long, curved ‘bar-like’ bench made from extruded aluminium which would sit at the same height as (and flush against) the entire length of the existing upper timber railing which would allow several people to sit on higher, fixed stools and enjoy their fish & chips (or whatever) with a perfect view of the ocean.

I’ve also asked that consideration be given to include disabled and children-friendly furniture within the shelter area.

I understand that the order for the new furniture has now been placed and I would expect to see it installed within the next few months.
