Bundaberg Regional Council will be running buses from the Bundaberg Racecourse tomorrow (Monday) to take volunteer workers to North Bundaberg.
Mayor, Cr. Mal Forman said the weekend effort of the Mud Army where upwards of 1300 registered volunteers actively participated in the cleanup was a phenomenal effort.
“The community owes a huge debt of gratitude to the volunteers and to all the people who supported their activities.”
“However, the job’s not done yet and while the call tomorrow is not for the official Mud Army we still want as many volunteers as possible to join the cleanup and help where possible.”
“We will have a regular bus service running all day from 7.30am at the Racecourse every hour with the final bus leaving North Bundaberg at 4.30 in the afternoon.”
Cr. Forman said drink stations and first aid facilities will be available during the day. “The reason we are using buses to move people into the area is to assist in minimizing traffic in what is a very congested area.”
