MORE FLOOD FUNDING APPROVED FOR LOCAL ROAD REPAIRS

Another two packages of road repairs have been approved under the Natural Disaster Relief & Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) including several within Division 5.

Earlier approvals were obtained for a number of other local roads with much of that work now completed or underway.

The majority of approvals for the 2010 & 2011 flooding events have now been obtained however there are still some pending. Most of the approved works will be subject to a tendering process, scheduling and final completion and I’m hoping that we can get as many as possible finished off before the onset of the wet season.

Some of the most recently approved works include:

Blain Street, Bargara – between Davidson Street & Hughes Road
Trevor’s Road, Bargara – north of Watson’s Road
Woongarra Scenic Drive, Bargara
– numerous sections
Woongarra Scenic Drive, Bargara – bad section near Rifle Range Road
Bargara Lakes Drive – between Nos 9 & 15
Larder Street, Bargara – between Watson’s Road & Kelly’s Creek
Fairway Drive, Bargara – between Palmer & Dunk Streets
Wessels Road, Bargara – between Hughes Road & Brumby Lane
Money’s Creek Causeway – between Causeway Drive & Flood Gates
Money’s Creek Causeway – centre section
Logan Road – small section near WSD

The floods have been a real pain for Council and the community over the last couple of years however it’s good to see that most of the road repairs are being funded through NDRRA and that where appropriate, Council has been able to fund minor improvements while the work is being carried out.
