Media Release – WHEELCHAIRS NOW OFFERED AT AIRPORT SCREENING POINT

Elderly and disabled passengers will now be offered wheelchair assistance at the security screening point at Bundaberg Regional Airport.

Council’s Economic Development portfolio spokesperson Cr Greg Barnes said the wheelchair would provide comfort for those people boarding who may require some assistance.

“We’ve had feedback from some members of the community about screening processes at the airport. Some of them said that it was a little tricky to get through without the aid of their walker or walking stick. We’ve listened to their concerns and have responded accordingly,” Cr Barnes said.

“Whether it is for an elderly person or for people with prosthetic implants or injuries, these wheelchairs will ensure the security screening point is accessible for everyone and will also provide a smoother, more streamlined transition to the waiting lounge,” Cr Barnes said.

With the airport recording record passenger numbers he said Council was continually improving its service at the airport.

“For many visitors to our region the airport is their last point of contact so we are always looking for ways to improve our service to ensure they leave the region with only pleasant memories.”
