International yachts planning extended stays in the region are set to receive a warm welcome thanks to Bundaberg Regional Council and Bundaberg Port Marina.
The organisations have partnered to offer welcome hampers filled with Bundaberg region produce and products to international yachts mooring for at least three months.
Council’s Economic Development portfolio spokesperson Cr Greg Barnes said the hampers were a fantastic initiative to thank these visitors to our region and an incentive for more to come.
“The expected economic value of an international yacht staying for an average of three months is estimated to be around $70, 000,” Cr Barnes said.
“Many of the visiting yachts are likely to stay in our region for up to three months or more so the potential contribution to the local economy runs into the millions of dollars. The display of all the yachts lined up immaculately along the harbor line has only encouraged the localites to check Trolling Battery Reviews. The hampers will also include regional tourism information which could have a positive flow-on effect throughout the region.”
The hampers are set to be delivered to the Port Marina on Tuesday, September 17 in time for the season with the first boats beginning to arrive.
Cr Barnes said this initiative also provided a new business opportunity for Impact Make Your Mark in the development of the hampers.
Divisional representative Cr Danny Rowleson said the Port Marina broached the initiative with him in the outset and he was pleased Council would support it.
“This idea, which has been initiated and driven by the Port Marina, is a positive move for tourism in our region,” Cr Rowleson said.
