Bundaberg Regional Council, in conjunction with the Bundaberg Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) and District Disaster Management Group (DDMG), is continuing to monitor potential minor flooding in the Bundaberg city area but has assured residents no homes are likely to be impacted.
The projected Burnett River heights in the Bundaberg city area are not expected to exceed 4.5m.
The lowest river height at which properties in the Bundaberg town area could expect to be inundated is 6m.
Some minor flooding may occur in low-lying areas such as Lions Park and areas of Bundaberg East.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a flood warning for the upper Burnett River with moderate to major flooding expected in some areas.
The LDMG and DDMG has held the final group meeting today at 11am however they will remain in Stand Up status until all services are operating and there is no longer any risk of flooding.
While no homes are likely to be affected by flooding, Council is urging residents to continue monitoring warnings from BOM.
Anyone who feels their property may be at risk of flooding is encouraged to take advantage of Council’s flood mapping system, which uses real-time data from rain and river gauges to project any possible flood impact on individual properties.
The mapping tool can be found at http://www.bundaberg.qld.gov.au/floods.
