Media Release – REGISTER TO LEND A HAND ON CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY

Council is calling on the community to lend a hand to keep the Bundaberg region beautiful by registering for Clean Up Australia Day.

Council’s Community Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said it took a whole-of-community approach to make Clean Up Australia Day successful.

“Council is appealing to everyone to help to clean up our local parks, beaches, bushlands and streets this Clean Up Australia Day,” Cr Peters said.

“Whether you are a resident, a business, organisation or school, if everyone chips in we can make a difference.

“By registering your interest to participate, Council can provide you with additional gloves and bags needed.”

All registrations for sites are to be made on the Clean Up Australia Day website – cleanupaustraliaday.org.au – or by calling 1800 282 329.  Interested parties can register a site or volunteer at an existing site.

Council’s Waste and Recycling portfolio spokesperson Cr Vince Habermann said Council would also support residents and groups who register for the day by picking up the rubbish collected.

“By working together we will get the rubbish off of our streets, beaches and parklands and into Council’s waste facilities where it belongs.”

Get involved in Clean Up Australia Day on the following days:

Clean Up Business Day – Tuesday, March 1
Clean Up Schools Day – Friday, March 4
Clean Up Australia Day – Sunday, March 6
