As part of this year’s Social Inclusion Week Bundaberg Regional Council, in partnership with the Social Inclusion Week Working Group, will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest paper doll chain.
Community Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said Council would need the whole community to get involved for the record attempt to be successful.
“The current record for a paper doll chain stands at 6.59km, our goal is to well and truly exceed the current record by creating a chain 8-10km long. Cr Peters said.
Cr Peters said the paper doll colouring-in template would be distributed throughout the community, including schools, events and community groups.
“We are getting the paper dolls to as many people as possible and it is also available to download from Council’s website.
“What better way to promote social inclusion then to get our entire community to collaborate on one project.
“It doesn’t matter whether you’re young or old, your cultural background or your level of ability, everyone can get involved.
“Between now and November residents can colour in as many paper dolls as they would like and submit them to Council to compile during Social Inclusion Week between November 24 and 30.”
To participate in the world record attempt, head to bundaberg.qld.gov.au and download the paper doll template or contact Council’s Community Development Unit on 1300 883 699.
Drop off points for completed paper dolls are available at all Council service centres, the Gin Gin and Childers Neighbourhood Centres, Council’s art galleries in Childers and Bundaberg, IMPACT Community Services at 106 Bargara Road and Bundaberg Broadcasters at 38 Crofton Street.
