Media Release – RATES REBATE AVAILABLE FOR ELIGIBLE PENSIONERS

With rate notices set to arrive in letterboxes in early August, now is the time to check if you are eligible for a pensioner rebate.

Eligible pensioners can receive a 20% reduction on their rates from the Queensland Government, up to $200 year, and a fixed reduction of $140 a year from Bundaberg Regional Council.

To be eligible for these reductions residents must hold either a Queensland Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink, Queensland Veterans’ Affairs Concession Card or a Queensland Repatriation Health Card – For All Conditions, issued by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Applicants must also be the owner/s of the property or life tenant/s of the property (either solely or jointly), which must be their principal place of residence.

Application forms to apply for the pensioner rate rebate are available at Council offices in Bundaberg, Bargara, Childers and Gin Gin.

Applicants are required to present their concession card to be sighted and photocopied by a Council Officer when making this application.

If a pensioner previously received and is still eligible to receive a rebate then they do not need to re-apply.

However, a new application must be lodged if a pensioner changes their principal place of residence.

Ratepayers wishing to check their eligibility for the rebate should contact Council’s Revenue Section on 1300 883 699.

All pensioners are encouraged to check their pensioner card details and update any changes with Centrelink/Veterans’ Affairs if necessary.
