Media Release – NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS

The region’s high achievers of 2014 have an opportunity to receive the recognition they deserve with nominations now open for the Bundaberg Region 2015 Australia Day Spirit Awards.

Mayor Cr Mal Forman said the prestigious awards were an important community initiative.

“Every day there are residents who strive to achieve great things within our region who are deserving of reward,” Cr Forman said.

“They would probably be the last people to ask for recognition and yet are those most worthy of it.

“It is these residents and organisations that maintain the great lifestyle we all enjoy with their outstanding contributions and community service.”

Nomination categories include:

• Citizen of the year

• Young citizen spirit award

• Senior citizen spirit award

• Community spirit award

• Community event of the year award

• Creative spirit award
