Media Release – MONCRIEFF RE-OPENS WITH A FULL HOUSE FOR CLASSICAL BALLET SIMULCAST PERFORMANCE

The Moncrieff Entertainment Centre is open for business again, with a great range of movies and live shows.

The Moncrieff has been closed during May as the building was re-roofed but Bundaberg Regional Council Mayor, Cr. Mal Forman said the presentation of the free simulcast of “Le Corsaire” was a fitting reopening for the Centre.

“Bundaberg has again been selected to participate in this free simulcast with the Bolshoi Ballet performing live at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and the ballet being beamed live into eight regional centres acrossQueensland.”

“This is the first simulcast for 2013 but during 2012 we had two exceptionally popular simulcasts including “Madama Butterfly” which drew a capacity audience,” Cr. Forman said.

The Bolshoi Ballet’s performance of “Le Corsaire” via Live Simulcast will be held at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, June 4 from 7pm.

Council Sports, Recreation and Venues portfolio spokesperson Cr. Lynne Forgan said it was exciting that Bundaberg had been selected once again to participate in QPAC’s free simulcast program.

Cr  Forgan also said it was wonderful to see the public embracing the technology of simulcasts.

“Community members and theatre lovers from across the region have demonstrated that they adore this form of entertainment.

“This has paved the way for private companies to bring international shows such as Andre Rieu to Bundaberg via this medium.”
