The Bundaberg Regional Council is inviting regional businesses to attend a free event to find out more about a new start-up accelerator program that encourages digital entrepreneurship in the Bundaberg region.
The event will be held at the School of Arts Building in Bundaberg on 12 August from 12–1pm to outline a 14-week program being coordinated by River City Labs in Brisbane, in collaboration with Telstra-backed muru-D.
Spokesperson for Economic Development, Cr Greg Barnes said the new startup accelerator program would be made available to five digital startups to give them the assistance they need to get their businesses off the ground.
“The event will connect attendees with River City Labs in Brisbane via a live video conference, who will present the program, answer questions, and give feedback for anyone who wants to pitch their startup,” Cr Barnes said.
“The startup accelerator program will provide five deserving startups each with $20,000 in seed funding, free co-working space, mentoring, workshops and masterclasses.”
“As well as providing financial assistance, the program is an avenue for entrepreneurs to get connected to a global network of investors, business professionals and mentors. Mentors and investors involved in the program include Steve Baxter from Shark Tank; Michael Dempsey, founder of Ezi Debit; the CTO of Queensland Health and numerous others, including angel investors and venture capital funds.”
“Council sees enormous opportunity to grow our region’s technology sector and encourage high-growth, technology-based businesses that drive creativity, innovation, and job creation. As a collective region, we want to support the region’s entrepreneurial success by connecting people, information and ideas.” “The webinar would be most beneficial to entrepreneurs within the region looking to develop startup companies. A light lunch will be provided for those in attendance.”
