The festive season is business as usual for Council’s kerbside collection crew.
Waste and Recycling portfolio spokesperson Cr Vince Habermann said Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day would see Council’s dedicated Waste and Recycling team complete their collection runs as per normal.
“Collection days will continue to schedule over public holidays, however the individual runs will commence earlier on these days to accommodate for Council employees spending time with their families,” Cr Habermann said.
“Council is asking residents whose regular bin collection day falls on any of the public holidays to put their bins out the night before to ensure collection, as any missed bins will not be emptied until the following scheduled collection day.
“Residents are reminded to space their general waste and recycling bins at one metre apart, or to simply place them on opposite sides of the driveway.”
Council’s 11 waste facilities will continue to operate as usual during the holiday season with the exception of Christmas day.
The University Drive Facility will be the only waste facility open on Christmas day, operating from 8am until noon. Woodgate Transfer Station will be opening Friday, December 26 in lieu of its closure Christmas Day.
