The festive season is business as usual for Council’s kerbside collection crew.
Waste and Recycling portfolio spokesperson Cr Vince Habermann said Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day would see Council’s dedicated Waste and Recycling team complete their collection runs as per normal.
“Collection days will remain the same for residents whose regular bin collection day falls on a public holiday, however collections will commence earlier on these days so that Council employees can return home to spend time with their families,” Cr Habermann said.
“As such, Council is asking residents whose regular bin collection day falls on any of these days to have their bins on the kerbside for collection the night before.
“Any bins that are missed because they were not presented for collection on time will not be emptied until the following scheduled collection day.
“Residents are reminded to space their general waste and recycling bins at least half a metre apart, or to simply place them on opposite sides of the driveway.”
Cr Habermann said Council’s 11 waste facilities will continue to operate as usual during the holiday season with the exception of Christmas day.
“The University Drive Facility will be the only waste facility open on Christmas day, operating from 8am until noon.”
