If you’re tech-savvy kids are looking for ways to keep busy in the school holidays, then Bundaberg Regional Library has the solution for you!
Council’s Sport, Recreation and Venues portfolio spokesperson Cr Lynne Forgan said the library would deliver a number of robotics workshops funded by a State Library of Queensland Ozobot Robotics and Coding Grant.
“The workshops, delivered by library staff, will teach children aged 8 to 15 about computer coding,” Cr Forgan said.
“A modern library is multi-faceted, offering a multitude of services to suit the needs of all members of the community and as such our library is constantly evolving to meet advances in technology.
“This workshop is something a little bit different which I have no doubt will prove extremely popular.”
Bundaberg Regional Library production technician Josh McCullough said the grant had allowed Bundaberg Regional Library to purchase a variety of bots starting from the basic Ozobot up to the more advanced Spheros and Star Wars BB-8 enabled Droid.
“We’re keeping the workshop numbers to a minimum to ensure every participant can take their turn with each of the bots.
“This will also allow us to customize the session to appeal to both participants with no experience in computer coding up to the more advanced participants who can work through puzzles and write hard code.
Workshops are free however bookings are essential. To book head to library.bundaberg.qld.gov.au or call the library on 4130 4140.
