Sensational views, freshly brewed coffee and tempting food are all on the menu in Elliott Heads with Driftwood Café and Kiosk officially opened today.
Owners Peter and Michelle Jacobi successfully tendered to operate their business from Council’s new facility which will replace the former Elliott Heads Kiosk.
Michelle said the café was already in demand following a trial day on Saturday.
“We were only selling coffee and cakes but every table was full,” Michelle said.
“It was a really positive start. Everyone bought their empty cups back to say how much they enjoyed the coffee.”
From today Driftwood Café and Kiosk will also serve an extensive takeaway menu.
The long-term vision for Driftwood Café and Kiosk is to hold Saturday night dinner and Sunday morning breakfast.
“We’re going to give it a try once we are up and running and if we get a positive response we’ll keep it going.”
Divisional spokesperson Cr Danny Rowleson said it was rewarding to see the facility open its doors.
“This is a real boost for not just the Elliott Heads community but for surrounding coastal areas,” Cr Rowleson said.
“The $740, 000 facility is the first part of Council’s Elliott Heads Foreshore Master Plan which will drive visitor numbers to the area and showcase this part of our coastline.
“The existing kiosk will be demolished, opening up the ocean vista and placing a focus on the Elliott Heads Lifesaving Club.
