Media Release – COUNTDOWN IS ON FOR THE ANNUAL GARAGE SALE TRAIL

There’s just one month to go until the Garage Sale Trail and 25 sales have already been registered throughout the region.

Council’s Waste and Recycling portfolio spokesperson Cr Vince Habermann said it was fantastic to see the community once again throwing its support behind the event which will be held nation-wide on Saturday, October 24.

“The Garage Sale Trail provides benefits to our community on so many levels by helping residents, groups and organisations to make some extra cash, meet their neighbours and ensure unwanted items are rehomed,” Cr Habermann said.

“This inevitably provides benefits to Council because it reduces the amount of reusable items ending up in landfill.” Cr Habermann said last year about 100 sales were registered throughout the region and Council was hoping for a similar number this year.

“We’ve already got sales registered in Buxton, Bullyard, Bargara and everywhere in between.

“Garage Sale Trail campaign data projects that with 25 sales registered so far, more than 312 shopping trolleys worth of goods will be redistributed within our region.”

“It also says that, of the 14 Council’s registered to participate in Queensland, we’re currently ranked fourth behind Brisbane, Townsville and Gladstone.

“Come on Bundy, we can’t get beaten by Gladstone, and I encourage everyone with any unwanted items which can be reused to either register or if you want to be a part of the Garage Sale Trail without the hassle of opening your home, you can join Staff of Bundaberg Regional Council Relay for Life team’s mega community garage sale “Rummage for Relay” at Daph Geddes Park, Kendall Flat on October 24 and help to raise money for the Cancer Council Queensland.”

Sites at the Rummage for relay are available at Suitcase site (1.5mx1.5m) – $5; Stall (3mx3m) – $10; Car boot – $10 and Stall (5mx10m) – $15. To get an application form, go to Council website or call 1300 883 699 for more information.

If you don’t want to hold a sale, but have some unwanted items to giveaway you can contact the team to donate them.
