Council will consider relocating its Bundaberg pound facility to Qunaba to alleviate overcrowding which can result in animal health issues, following today’s Ordinary Meeting.
Health and Regulatory Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Wayne Honor said a relocation of the facility would have a huge flow on effect on impounded animals, Council staff and local residents.
“We have identified the need to expand our current pound facility which is often filled to capacity,” Cr Honor said.
“An independent consultant has recommended relocation as the ideal solution due to consistent noise complaints from residents in the vicinity of the current facility.
“A modern facility would better meet the needs of the region and maintain the health and safety of Council staff and impounded animals.”
Council will consider the consultant’s report and investigate the possibility of establishing a new animal pound at 180 Potters Rd, Qunaba.
The pound is currently located on University Drive.
