The Bundaberg Regional Council has resolved to offer five allotments on Airport Drive for sale by public tender.
As part of a major redevelopment of the airport precinct undertaken in 2009/10, an aviation commercial precinct was developed on nearby land.
Portfolio spokesperson for Economic Development, Cr Greg Barnes said the development had been designed to capitalise on the existing industry base of the region and further encourage aviation related development and knowledge transfer to the region.
“This is a highly-serviced precinct within immediate proximity to Bundaberg Regional Airport, the Isis Highway Network and a short drive to the Central Business District and the rail network. As such, it presents a unique opportunity for aviation related businesses or those which can benefit from being in such close proximity to this established infrastructure,” Cr Barnes said.
“The Bundaberg Airport saw nearly 160,000 passenger movements in the 2014-15 year and this number is certain to grow as the region’s economy and population grows.
“Significant funds have been invested in the precinct and should land sales be achieved, Council will have the opportunity to progress its goal of making this a significant economic driver for the region.
“During today’s ordinary meeting, Council resolved that the Chief Executive Officer be authorised to negotiate with the highest tenderer should the reserve price not be met or to place the property on the open market should it not be sold via the tender process.”
