There’s a bit of work being carried out by Council’s Parks & Gardens crew in the Innes Park/Coral Cove area so I thought that I’d post a brief update to keep residents informed.
Coral Cove Roadside Gardens & Signage Walls – Many of the roadside gardens throughout Coral Cove have now been re-planted and two new block signage walls installed to replace those that were recently removed (Leon Place & Betty Close). The signs have been designed to replicate as close as possible those that were removed.
Palmer’s Creek (Innes Park Reserve) Shelter Shed Replacement – A shelter shed overlooking Palmers Creek has been demolished to make way for a larger structure to match other shelters within the Innes Park Reserve. The new shed is currently under construction and will incorporate wide disabled access from the coastal pathway and modern aluminium benches & tables.
Innes Park Reserve Beach Volley Ball Net Replaced – The beach volley ball court within the Innes Park Reserve recently received a new hi-vis net to replace the previous one which had deteriorated over recent years. The court has proved to be popular with local families and youths.
Mistletoe Shrubs Invade Sheoaks – A number of foreshore sheoaks overlooking Palmer’s Creek have been infected by the Mistletoe Shrub which is a parasitic growth transported by birds and which bores into host limbs of other trees causing extensive damage. As a result, a number of limbs have been severed from the trees and more may yet be required.
Palmer’s Creek Car Park Trees & Fencing Under Consideration – Council is considering the removal of boulders along the eastern alignment of the Palmer’s Creek car park and replacing them with sections of low post & rail fences as used elsewhere within the Reserve. A row of trees between the fences and coastal pathway is also being considered.
