Bargara residents in Beach Milieu and the surrounding area should notice an improvement in the level of odour emissions which have been emanating from the Hughes Road Sewerage Pump Station (SPS) over recent months.
Council today completed a stage of the remedial works to address the issue by diverting the flow of waste from the Trevor’s Road SPS so that it now passes through the new Watson’s Road SPS which includes a chemical dosing plant. This waste had formerly travelled directly from Trevor’s Road to the Hughes Road line through the Durdin’s Road alignment.
As a result of the diversion, the waste matter can now be chemically treated before it reaches the Hughes Road SPS and officers will be able to monitor the situation and adjust the level of dosing to suit.
I’ll be happy to receive any feedback from residents in that area over the next couple of weeks so that I can pass it on to Council’s technicians.
