I’ve received a couple of calls regarding the Variable Message Boards on Hughes Road (between Causeway Drive & Blain Street) which have been in place for several weeks advising of an impending “to be advised” road closure.
The calls have related to the perceived cost to ratepayers associated with the extended hire of these signs. Please note that these are not paid for by Council but are the responsibiity of the developer/contractor.
The proposed works will see stormwater drainage extended from the western side of Hughes Road (just north of Miara’sCafe/Bargara Berries) through culverts to collect run-off from the new stage of the Golf Links Estate Development on the eastern side of the road. It will then run southwards to discharge into the top end on Money’s Creek near the Child Care Centre.
I need to clarify that these works have nothing to do with the separate work being carried out by Council in Blain Street as there has been some confusion between the two simultanous projects .
