HUGHES ROAD EXTENSION MAP

Last year I posted a map on my website showing the route and details of the proposed Hughes Road Extension however it would appear that a number of residents, especially newcomers to the area, haven’t seen it so I thought that I’d post it again for their information.

The new road will join the intersection of Windermere/Back Windermere/Rifle Range Roads with the Watsons/Hughes Road intersection as part of the North-South Distributor Road between Elliott Heads & Burnett Heads.

The importance of this project can’t be overstated as it will not only provide an efficient and effective linkage parrallel to the coast with accesses to all sections of townships, but it will also take a load of traffic off roads such as Woongarra Scenic Drive, Miller Street and various Esplanades. This is especially relevant having regard for the number of significant developments proposed along the coast.

I’m also pleased to advise the the first stage of the project will commence this financial year with the construction of a roundabout at the Windermere/Back Windermere/Rifle Range Roads intersection. The second stage will see the commencement of the new road northwards to Wearing Road which should occur next year subject to budget acceptance.
