EVER HEARD OF FLASH MOBBING?

Flash mobbing involves a group or artists (usually musicians, dancers or choirs) who pre-arrange performances in public areas with a bit of a ‘wow’ factor. They’re about spontaneity and engaging observers in a spectacle which expects nothing from them apart from enjoying what they’re witnessing.

Usually one artist will commence the semingly ‘spontaneous’ performance before gradually being joined by the rest of the group which can be small or large and who have mingled amongst others in a popular area. These acts usually hit You Tube within minutes and provide an excellent exposure for the location in which they’re filmed and an opportunity for local talent to be recognised. They’re usually performed free of charge with public liability insurance covered by the orchestra, band, troupe, etc. who also provide all the choreography and training.

Our region boasts a wealth of talent from our school kids to our older members of the community. The foreshore park in front of the Bargara CBD is just one of several great possible locations within the wider region and I’m currently talking to a few organisations who seem very interested in giving it a try.

If it looks like a goer I’ll seek help from some voluteers who can keep a secret!

In the meantime, here are two examples from Barcelona & Antwerp – check out the number of views from across the world & be patient – they take a few moments to open upĀ :
