Emergency services will be out in force this weekend spreading the Get Ready message.
Council and the Queensland Police Service will be hosting the Disaster Preparedness Expo at Hinkler Central from 9am to 3pm.
Council’s Disaster Management Officer Matt Dyer said the collaborative event was a timely reminder for the region’s residents.
“We’ve had a few good storms this year already and those came with power outages for much of the community,” Matt said.
“Were you prepared? Did you have spare batteries on hand for your torch, a radio to tune in to warnings and alerts or enough non-perishable food to see you through at least three days?”
He said information would be on hand from a variety of emergency services including the Australian Defence Force and the SES.
“In Hinkler Central’s Electra Street car park there will also be a display of emergency services vehicles including a 15 tonne armoured vehicle.”
