I’ve just completed another inspection of the road networks within Division 5. Many thanks to Dave Wise who helped by reporting on the conditions in the southern sector. This is the situation as of about 2.40pm.
- Money’s Creek Causeway has been closed and barricades erected.
- Seaview Road – Water over the road in several places especially between Bargara & Watsons Road and especially near the Wessel’s Road intersection. Most vehicles (especially 4WDs) are getting through but the water’s rising and it won’t be long before it’s dangerous to do so. I suspect that it will be closed soon.
- Hughes Road has been closed at the floodway and barricades erected.
- Wessel’s Road has now been closed.
- Watsons Road between Hughes Road & Seaview Road – Water lapping at road’s edge and may go over later today
- Back Windermere Road – Water over the road between Rifle Range Road & Poincianna Drive. Water flowing rapidly across the floodway near the quarry. Most vehicles are getting through but the water’s still rising and it won’t be long before it’s dangerous to do so. The water at this point tends to have a lot of velocity and I suspect that it will be closed later afternoon.
- Woongarra Scenic Drive – Water over the road at Kathleen Drive & Rifle Range Road. A small river running down the western alignment of WSD between Rifle Range & Moodies Roads.
- Aquarius Drive & Atlantis Boulevard (Beach Milieu) – Water lapping at the road’s edge and could go under latrer this afternoon however the new culverts under Davidson Street are definitely helping to keep both roads open.
Unless there’s a significant increase in the amount of rain that we receive, I won’t post any further updates until the morning. it’s safe to say that if you’re travelling between the northern and southern sections of Bargara or to Innes Park and Coral Cove, you’re likely to have to make a couple of detours.
Please don’t try to save a few minutes by risking an unsafe crossing.
