DIVISION 5 ROAD REPORT (Update #2 – 11.30am Saturday 2nd March)

I’ve just completed another inspection of the road networks within Division 5. This is the situation as of about 11.30am.

  • Money’s Creek Causeway – Water over the road by 300mm and rising. Road has now been closed and barricades will be erected shortly.
  • Seaview Road – Water over the road in several places especially between Bargara & Watsons Road and outside the Lavendar Farm. Water rising quickly and is likely to be closed imminently.
  • Hughes Road – Water over the road in a couple of places between Blain Street & Mira’s Cafe. About 200mm flowing across the floodway near the child care centre. Road has now been closed and barricades will be erected shortly
  • Wessel’s Road – Strong flow across the road – Road has now been closed and barricades will be erected shortly.
  • Watsons Road between Hughes Road & Seaview Road – Water lapping at road’s edge and may go over later today
  • Back Windermere Road – Water over the road between Rifle Range Road & Poincianna Drive. Water flowing rapidly across the floodway near the quarry. Road has now been closed and barricades will be erected shortly.
  • Woongarra Scenic Drive – Water over the road at Kathleen Drive & Rifle Range Road. A small river running down the western alignment of WSD between Rifle Range & Moodies Roads.
  • Aquarius Drive & Atlantis Boulevard (Beach Milieu) – Water lapping at the road’s edge and expected to go under soon.

The northern section of Bargara is close to being cut off from the southern section including Innes Park & Coral Cove via The Causeway, Hughes Road & Seaview Road. An alternative route over The Hummock or Ashfield Road and then via Elliott Heads & Innes Park Roads could be considered as an option.

I’ll carry out another inspection this afternoon and update this information.
