I’ve just completed an inspection of the road networks within Division 5. This is the situation as of about 8.45am.
- Money’s Creek Causeway – Gates open but water rising. About 500mm freeboard at the gates but about 200mm at the lower point on the southern side towards Causeway Drive. Possibility that it will go under later this morning.
- Seaview Road – Water over the road in several places especially between Bargara & Watsons Road and outside the Lavendar Farm. Strong probability of being cut off later this morning.
- Hughes Road – Water over the road in a couple of places between Blain Street & Mira’s Cafe. About 75mm flowing across the floodway near the child care centre. Strong probability of being cut off soon.
- Wessel’s Road – Strong flow across the road – Impassable
- Watsons Road between Hughes Road & Seaview Road – About 100mm to go before it flows over the road
- Back Windermere Road – Water over the road between Rifle Range Road & Poincianna Drive. Water starting to flow onto the road at the floodway near the Holcin Quarry.
- Woongarra Scenic Drive – Water over the road at Kathleen Drive & Rifle Range Road. A small river running down the western alignment of WSD between Rifle Range & Moodies Roads.
- Aquarius Drive & Atlantis Boulevard (Beach Milieu) – Water lapping at the road’s edge and expected to go under soon.
Given the saturated state of the catchment areas and the weather predictions, I believe that there’s a good chance that the level of road inundation will deteriorate over the next few hours with the chance of the northern & southern sections of Bargara being cut off at Seaview Road, Hughes Road and the Money’s Creek Causeway. The Causeway is actually performing better than I expected so this may not be the case.
I’ll go for a run later and post the findings here.
