Council hopes to re-open Davidson Street, Bargara to vehicular traffic either tomorrow or Friday.
For several weeks Davidson Street has been blocked whilst larger culverts were installed to assist with drainage issues at the two entrances to Beach Milieu. The work will also include a pedestrian footpath over the drain on the eastern road alignment.
Pedestrian access was maintained throughout this period whilst traffic was diverted through Beach Milieu or via Blain Street & Hughes Road.
Council has been keen to complete the works (estimated to cost approximately one million dollars) prior to the onset of the wet season however there is still some ancillary work required to completely finish the job. This involves the relocation of some Telstra infrastructure together with the widening of the discharge channel across the golf course subject to further negotiations with the Club.
I’m sure that the road closure has been a pain to many motorists and particularly local residents and on behalf of Council I would like to thank everyone for their patience.
