Councillors and relevant staff are currently undertaking a series of bus trips across the region to collectively see first-hand the issues which are causing concern to local residents.
This Monday the 29th we’ll tour the general area to the east of the City between the Burnett & Elliott Rivers and the coast which incorporates Divisions 9,6 & 5.
The tours are focusing on road and drainage issues but also give Divisional Councillors the opportunity to provide commentary on other matters such as parks & gardens, waterways, beaches, etc. and to lobby their colleagues for their support for various projects.
The Bundaberg region covers a huge area and try as we may, it’s extremely difficult for every Councillor to be familiar with every topical issue. These tours enable Divisional Councillors to point out the pros, cons and priorities associated with issues within their Division based on their specific local knowledge and in the lead-up to preliminary budget deliberations.
On Monday I’ll be highlighting numerous issues within Division 5 including:
* the need to prioritise the Hughes Road Extension between Watsons Road & Rifle Range Road,
*completing the two missing links of the Turtle Trail Footpath/Cycleway between Innes Park North & Innes Park & Coral Cove & Elliott Heads
* traffic and pedestrian issues around the Bargara CBD foreshore area
* several issues involving the ongoing maintenance and Money’s Creek Lagoon(s) & The Causeway
* roadside & roundabout garden maintenance throughout Coral Cove
* Bargara Lakes Drive roadway re-construction & drainage issues
plus numerous other issues.
