Residents in the North Bundaberg and Moore Park areas are advised of impending treatment of their areas to control mosquitoes.
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Health & Regulatory Services spokesperson. Cr. Wayne Honor said a Council Environmental Health Officer will assist a Fraser Coast Council vector control officer driving a vehicle mounted with an ultra low volume misting machine to knock down adult mosquitoes.
Cr. Honor said the treatment of as many streets as possible in the North Bundaberg area will commence at dusk this evening for a period of two hours. The Moore Park Beach area treatment will commence at dawn tomorrow.
He said Council officers had identified these two areas as prime sites for mosquito infestation and treatment will have a positive impact across the region..
“People should not stand in the mist but stay inside. It is recommended that residents move to the opposite end of the house as the vehicle passes their area,” he said.
“There is no need to close doors and windows unless you have a respiratory problem or extremely sensitive skin,” said Cr. Honor.
Council has also been treating ponded water in the area to reduce the emergence of adult mosquitoes. Cr. Honor said Council had Material Safety Data Sheets available if any resident had concerns regarding the chemicals in use.
