As it’s a major road link between north & south Bargara, I thought that I’d provide an update on the current roadworks & footpath upgrade on The Causeway over Money’s Creek. Please note that the scheduled dates are subject to weather.
All Council, Telstra and Ergon infrastructure has now been installed beneath the western alignment and the second section of the coloured concrete footpath works was completed today with the third and final section scheduled for completion on Friday.
Next Monday, the crew are proposing to shift pedestrians from the temporary (barriered) pathway and onto the new section. Bollards will also be installed between the road and pathway.
On Tuesday, the final asphalt road surface will be applied and will also be extended to cover a section of the intersection with Causeway Drive as part of the flood repairs program. Please note that this latter section will only be a temporary repair job as the intersection itself is scheduled to be dug up next year to construct a roundabout. (Tuesday’s going to be a busy day for the crew and there could be extended traffic delays so I’d recommend the use of alternative routes.)
Most of the white line markings will be applied after the asphalt surface cures over the Christmas break however a temporary centre line will be applied prior to the break.
Congratulations to the crew & contractors engaged in this project as they’ve managed to complete it earlier than I expected and with minimal delays to traffic.
