The work to widen and re-seal Blain Street at Bargara was completed today with only the line marking yet to be painted as you’ll see in the photos below.
The job saw the installation of some 80 metres of concrete piping into an existing open drain on the northern alignment which was then built over to widen the road. As much of the road had been the subject of ever-failing pothole repairs, the entire length and width of the road has be re-surfaced.
I’ve asked our engineers to examine ways of preventing motorists from cutting the corners when they enter Blain Street from either Hughes Road of Davidson Street as this is a real safety issue. The worst seems to be when some northbound vehicles turn right from the 80km/h Hughes Road into the 50km/h Blain Street on the wrong side of the road.
