The heavy overnight rain has provided the first test for the new drainage path leading from the Beach Milieu Lagoon, under Davidson Street and across the Bargara Golf Course.

Beach Milieu Lagoon Weir
Known locally as ‘The Suez Canal’, the new stormwater drain met the challenge and performed well. The discharge of water was delayed by the 3.2m high tide at 6.40am however the level soon fell as the tide dropped with the Money’s Creek floodgates open.
Golfers who inspected the course this morning advised that areas which traditionally flood had remained dry and those which had been inundated, drained much faster than usual.
The story was similar for the residents of Beach Milieu with zero flooding of the Atlantis Boulevard & Aquarius Drive entrances. The lagoon’s level soon returned to normal this afternoon.
