One of the most contentious issues following the recent tornado and flooding events has been the ability of local tradesmen & women to access recovery work.
At a time when rebuilding the economy and ensuring the ongoing viability of local businsses is paramount to the recovery process, it’s important that local tradies are fully aware of the way jobs are being allocated and the best way for them to put their skills forward so that they can access a share of the work.
At 4.30pm this afternoon Council is hosting a free ‘Tradies Connect’ function at the Civic Centre where local businesses and individuals can learn more about the processes involved and also network with the various authorities and insurance agencies that allocate much of the work.
I urge anyone involved in the building or maintenance industries to come along this evening and take advantage of this unique opportunity to have your say and promote your skills.
